HAVE YOU HAD A “CORNEAL MAPPING” DONE?

Jul 11, 2016

The cornea is the clear, curved window in front of your pupil that is responsible for focusing most of the light that enters your eye.  It follows, then, that problems with the cornea can have a profound impact on how well you see.

Corneal “mapping” or topography is an instrument that measures the shape of your cornea very precisely.  Performing this test on an annual basis can help us detect subtle changes to the corneal shape which helps your eye doctor determine your risk for certain diseases and disorders.  Conditions like dry eyes, excessive contact lens wear, and genetic diseases of the cornea all commonly show changes on topography.

Corneal topography is an advanced method of detecting eye disease, and it is not available at all optometrist offices.  At MVO we provide it with every complete adult eye exam at no additional cost at both our offices.
